From hayrides to pumpkin patches and the state fair to Halloween, there’s a lot to be said for the fall season.
Fall is also the time to get your wardrobe in order for the coming season. The are fading, and the new trends are filtering in. However, there are a few mistakes you don’t want to make with your wardrobe this fall. We’ll talk about a few of those mistakes below.
Wearing Shapeless Outfits
While it’s true that clothes for the fall season tend to be thicker and more oversized than spring and summer fashions, that doesn’t mean that your fall outfits have to be shapeless and baggy. It’s okay to wear oversized clothes, as it is often a trend, but you can still add some style to the baggy cardigans and clunky boots.
For example, cinch that cardigan at your waist with a stylish belt or wear leggings to accentuate your hourglass figure.
As for those clunky boots you have on your feet, trade them out for fashionable flats instead. You can even add to the mix to combat the shapeless outfits of fall and be super stylish instead.
Lack of Creativity
It’s super easy to forget to be creative with your wardrobe when the temperatures start to drop. After all, you don’t need to get really dressed up in order to go on a hayride or walk through a corn maze at the state fair.
There’s one that is a staple during the fall. That’s blue jeans and a hoodie. While there’s nothing wrong with this outfit, it’s still a lack of creativity, which is a mistake you don’t want to make.
Instead, you can still be creative and casual at the same time by wearing leggings or even tights under your summer skirts or trying any number of layering combinations.
As for the jeans and hoodie look, save it for the hayride or a night at the fair.
Going to Dark
Yes, it’s colder, and the days are shorter, but that doesn’t mean you should go all gothic in your clothing selections. Instead, look for rainbow prints, or if you want to go with fall colors, try reds and golds, and then layer your darker clothing to match.
It’s also a big myth that you can’t wear white after Labor Day. Who’s going to tell you that you can’t? And after all, white goes with anything and is perfect to layer with.
Dark purple, crimson, and emerald green are also colors that go well with fall outfits also.
Skipping Out on Changing Your Accessories
The accessories that work for the summer of the year don’t work the same for the fall. So never skip out on changing. Pull out those chunky necklaces, hats, and scarves you couldn’t wear this summer and wear them with pride.
Most summer jewelry is delicate and dainty and can get lost in the thicker clothing of fall. Instead, you need bolder, thicker jewelry to complement your fall look. The same goes for those hats and scarves you couldn’t wear over the summer. They go great with fall outfits.
Wearing the Same Outerwear Every Day
It’s tempting to wear the same coats, jackets, and sweaters every day during the chilly fall season, but it’s best to switch them up. Remember, on chilly days, people will see your outerwear more than they see the clothing underneath it.
It’s best to have at least three options of outerwear to choose from, so you keep from getting stale looking by wearing the same thing.
