Hold and Support Your Baby

Yet, your baby’s neck muscles aren’t fully developed. You’ll need to support your baby’s head when you pick them up. Support your baby’s head against your shoulder with your other hand when carrying them.

What About Bathing?

Bathing your baby is another challenge for new parents. Make sure you have all the bathing supplies beforehand. Pick up a gentle cleanser. You want to find a gentle product. Baby skin can rash or tear easily.

Changing Diapers

A lot of new parents get surprised by how many diapers babies use.

Consider picking up plenty of diapers beforehand. This way, you’ll have all the supplies you need before bringing your baby home. Try practicing changing some diapers beforehand too.

Nappy rashes are pretty standard for babies. If you see any redness, apply zinc oxide cream to the area.

To keep the diaper area dry, you should also apply a baby diaper rash powder. Use the powder during every diaper change. The powder will reduce friction and repel any moisture.

Comfort Your Baby

It is typical for babies to cry for around two hours every day during the first few months.

Try to figure out why your baby’s crying. Does your baby need a new diaper, or do they seem hungry? Sometimes babies will cry if they have gas. Babies also get overstimulated by lights or noise.

If you need to soothe your overstimulated baby, try rocking them on your shoulder. You can talk in a soft voice or sing to them. You can also rub your baby’s back to help calm them.

Your baby won’t have a lot of mobility in the first few weeks. Your baby might cry because they feel uncomfortable in their crib.

Help your baby feel more comfortable by moving their position. Make sure you place your baby on their back while they sleep.

You can pick up some toys designed for your newborn baby. Make sure you shop around and find quality items.
